Let your gentleness be evident to all. (Philippians 4:4–5, NIV 1984).
My Musings – Gentleness is one of two qualities (gentle and humble) that Jesus wants us to earn from Him. The quality (part of our character) of being kind, tender, or mild-mannered. Because it is to be part of our character it should be evident (obvious and clearly seen) to all. Not just family and friends. Not just fellow members of the faith. All. No one (not even our “enemies”) is excluded.
Wouldn’t it be a much different world if we lived up to Paul’s directive? If rather than conforming we transforming.
My Advice – Jesus taught us gentleness and humility. It is up to us to learn. A thirst for knowledge is only quenched when the knowledge is applied. It may seem a bit unnatural or forced to begin with. But “He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 1:6, NIV 1984).
