Then Nathan said to David, “You are the man!” (2 Samuel 12:7, NIV 1984).
My Musings – When we sin, getting caught is the farthest thing from our minds. If it wasn’t, we probably wouldn’t sin. If When we do sin, one of the first things on our mind is how we can get away with it? How do we cover our tracks? David probably thought he had gotten away with his sin (adultery) and cover-up (murder). He thought no one else would ever know. But God knew and sent Nathan. “You may be sure that your sin will find you out.” (Numbers 32:23, NIV 1984).
No matter how much we hate accountability and confrontation (why else would we cover sin up?), we all need it. Even if we think we will not need it, likely we will. And when we do, “if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” (1 John 1:8–9, NIV 1984).
My Advice – We all need Nathans in our life. Nathans are best found at church.
