You were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light (for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness and truth) and find out what pleases the Lord. Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. (Ephesians 5:8-10, 15–16, NIV 1984).
My Musings – The days are becoming more evil as darkness descends upon our world. The world has seen darkness and evil before. We used to fight it, in many respects we seem to now embrace it. We were once in that darkness, and many remain to be rescued from it. But we, the children of light, do not live as children of the light, how dark will the darkness become?
“Goodness, righteousness and truth.” That’s how we must shine in this ever present darkness, “making the most of every opportunity.”
My Advice – How do we make the most of every opportunity? By not waiting for opportunities to be good, righteous and truthful, but by living that way consistently. Not because we must, but because we are (or are becoming) that way.
