Load Or Lift

“You experts in the law, woe to you, because you load people down with burdens they can hardly carry, and you yourselves will not lift one finger to help them.” (Luke 11:46, NIV 1984).

My Musings – Our increasing knowledge of God’s laws is not meant for us to “load people down with burdens they can hardly carry.” For we know fully well that we were unable to carry them. That’s why we needed grace. That’s what they need too. The finger we lift should not be to point out their guilt and shame. That’s the Holy Spirit’s job. The finger that we lift should be to point them toward God’s grace.

My Advice – Imagine how much more effective we would be in impacting the world for the Kingdom if we were messengers of grace rather than condemnation.

He Touched Me

Shackled by a heavy burden,
‘neath a load of guilt and shame;
Then the hand of Jesus touched me,
And now I am no longer the same.

I was raised in a Christian family and my earliest childhood memories include regular Sunday school and Church attendance as a family. I was taught that our Judeo-Christian values were not just a part of our Sunday routine they should be part of our character and influence all aspects of our lives. I was also taught that as important as these values were they could not save us. We must also be “born again” by accepting Christ.
