You were running a good race. Who cut in on you and kept you from obeying the truth? That kind of persuasion does not come from the one who calls you. “A little yeast works through the whole batch of dough.” (Galatians 5:7–9, NIV 1984).

My Musings – When I was a kid, motion pictures were not rated. They didn’t need to be. But once the “yeast” was added it began to work through the whole batch of dough. I remember this as happening during my teenage years. Now, many years later, what once merited an “R” rating has crept into “PG-13.” What we found shocking years ago, we now find “nothing shocking about it at all.”
When I was a kid, newscasts included an editorial segment. This was where opinions were aired. News was news without bias. Today, the “yeast” has worked through the whole batch of dough. There is no editorial segment, and news is distorted by opinion and bias.
When I was a kid, education was education. Indoctrination was something that occurred behind the “Iron Curtain.” Today, the wall has been torn down, but instead of letting freedom in behind the curtain/wall, indoctrination has released from it confines. The “yeast” is doing its thing. The halls of learning are now the halls manipulation.
Unfortunately, these are only three examples of the decline of mankind. We are not progressing, we are regressing. The apocalyptic sound of approaching hoofbeats are growing louder and louder.
My Advice – I liked society much better when it was unleavened. But more importantly, I liked the Church a lot better when it too was unleavened. The “yeast” has not yet worked through the whole batch of dough, but its effects are unmistakable in many denominations and congregations. We were running a good race. But in many quarters, the world system seems to be manipulating the Church as much (maybe even more) than the Church is persuading the world. We’ve let the world cut in on us. Let’s get back to running a good race. Back to where we never should have left.
Good job. There is a subtle work going on – 3 But I fear, lest somehow, as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, so your minds may be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. The biggest challenge is how do we respond.
