“Even now,” declares the LORD, “return to me with all your heart.” Return to the LORD your God, for he is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love, and he relents from sending calamity.” (Joel 2:12, 13, NIV 1984).
My Musings – “No matter how long you have traveled in the wrong direction, you can always turn around.” (Unknown). At some point on a trip, after making a wrong turn, it becomes obvious that you are traveling in the wrong direction. Naturally, you make the course correction and turn around as soon as you are able. Life choices need not be any different. At some point, people come to realize that they have taken the wrong direction with their life. The question is, will they turn around?
Some feel that they have gone too far to turn around. That their sins are so great that that even if they turned around there is no going back. The “even now” in the above text suggests otherwise. It suggests that “even now” after so great a sin, that “even now” after being away so long, you can go back.
My Advice – You may have been a long time gone. “He is slow to anger.” You may have wandered a great distance from Him. If you turn, even though you are a long way off He will run to you with open arms. Won’t you turn to return? He will relent “from sending calamity.” For He is “gracious and compassionate.” He is “abounding in love.“
