Resistance Is Futile

“I know that my redeemer lives, and that in the end He will stand upon the earth.  And after my skin has been destroyed, yet in my flesh I will see God; I myself will see Him with my own eyes-I, and not another. How my heart yearns within me!” (Job 19:25-27, NIV 1984).

“If Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins. Then those also who have fallen asleep in Christ are lost. If only for this life we have hope in Christ, we are to be pitied more than all men.  But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep.” (1 Corinthians 15:17–20, NIV 1984).

My Musings – How crucial is the resurrection?  Without the cross there would be no resurrection.  Without the resurrection the cross would have been pointless, our faith futile and our redeemer would not live.  In our flesh we would never see God.

My Advice – “Christ has indeed been raised!” But if our faith is in anyone else or anything else, it is “futile” and “we are to be pitied more than all men.”  Because “[we] are still in [our] sins.”  “In the end He will stand upon the earth.”  With our own eyes we will see Him — either as judge or Savior.  Resistance is futile.

I was raised in a Christian family and my earliest childhood memories include regular Sunday school and Church attendance as a family. I was taught that our Judeo-Christian values were not just a part of our Sunday routine they should be part of our character and influence all aspects of our lives. I was also taught that as important as these values were they could not save us. We must also be “born again” by accepting Christ.
