“He who gathers crops in summer is a wise son, but he who sleeps during harvest is a disgraceful son.” (Proverbs 10:5, NIV 1984).
“I tell you, open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest. Even now the reaper draws his wages, even now he harvests the crop for eternal life, so that the sower and the reaper may be glad together.” (John 4:35–36, NIV 1984).
My Musings – The seeds have been sown. Much has fallen on rocky soil or have been choked out by weeds. But elsewhere, “look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest.” Now is not the time for slumber.
My Advice – It seems to much of us that harvest time is drawing near. We must work, for the night is falling. Until then, let’s keep working.
Work, For The Night Is Coming
Work, for the night is coming,
Under the sunset skies;
While their bright tints are glowing,
Work, for daylight flies.
Work till the last beam fadeth,
Fadeth to shine no more;
Work, while the night is dark’ning,
When man’s work is o’er.
