Naaman’s servants went to him and said, “My father, if the prophet had told you to do some great thing, would you not have done it? How much more, then, when he tells you, ‘Wash and be cleansed’!”  (2 Kings 5:13, NIV 1984).

My Musings – This is another verse that, while speaking to a specific context, can be taken as sound advice in another context.  Many would willingly do “some great thing” for God, but are less willing to do what they consider less great or menial.  Great things usually result in the praise of many, while the the less great or menial are often done in obscurity outside of the view with only the praise of a few, if any.  We must remember that Jesus, stooped to wash His disciples feet.  He left the side of His Father to be born in relative obscurity in a stable. I was raised in a Christian family and my earliest childhood memories include regular Sunday school and Church attendance as a family. I was taught that our Judeo-Christian values were not just a part of our Sunday routine they should be part of our character and influence all aspects of our lives. I was also taught that as important as these values were they could not save us. We must also be “born again” by accepting Christ.
