“Proverbs: for attaining wisdom and discipline; for understanding words of insight; for acquiring a disciplined and prudent life, doing what is right and just and fair; for giving prudence to the simple, knowledge and discretion to the young— let the wise listen and add to their learning, and let the discerning get guidance.” (Proverbs 1:1–5, NIV 1984).
My Musings – Like the rest of the Bible (Old and New Testaments), the book of Proverbs was expired (breathed out), from the Holy Spirit through the agency of the various human writers. Words from God that are useful for “teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness.” With the suffix ‘ing – the product or result of an action or process.
- Attaining – Success in achieving something that one desires and has worked for (wisdom and discipline).
- Understanding – Mental grasp, power to comprehend (words of insight).
