Love is as strong as death, its ardor unyielding as the grave. (Song of Songs 8:6, NIV 1984).
My Musings – His love for us was stronger than death, as He willingly went to the cross for us. Its ardor (intensity) did not yield to the grave as He rose from the dead so we could too. What can separate us from that kind of love? “I am convinced that neither death nor life…nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 8:38–39, NIV 1984).
My Advice – This should compel us to “live a life of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us.” (Ephesians 5:2, NIV 1984).
The Love of God
The love of God is greater far
Than tongue or pen can ever tell
It goes beyond the highest star
And reaches to the lowest hell.
Could we with ink the ocean fil
And were the skies of parchment made
Were every stalk on earth a quill
And every man a scribe by trade.
To write the love of God above
Would drain the ocean dry
Nor could the scroll contain the whole
Though stretched from sky to sky.
O love of God, how rich and pure!
How measureless and strong!
It shall forevermore endure
The saints’ and angels’ song.
