See To It

See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the basic principles of this world rather than on Christ. (Colossians 2:8, NIV 1984).

My Musings – The basic principles of this world are indeed hollow and deceptive. As is anything that depends on something or someone rather than Christ. So, we must be on guard, so no one is able to take us captive. But unfortunately, many are letting down their guard. Spending less and less time in the Word, in prayer and gathering with fellow believers. Look around. the devil is on the prowl. The social order is crumbling, and people believe we are becoming more and more enlightened.

My Advice – Standing firm so that we are not taken captive does not just happen. We must “see to it.” We must take the initiative, remain vigilant. and attend to Kingdom principles. Satan is battling for the soul of the Church. We must stand against him.

I was raised in a Christian family and my earliest childhood memories include regular Sunday school and Church attendance as a family. I was taught that our Judeo-Christian values were not just a part of our Sunday routine they should be part of our character and influence all aspects of our lives. I was also taught that as important as these values were they could not save us. We must also be “born again” by accepting Christ.
