“The days are coming,” declares the Sovereign LORD, “when I will send a famine through the land— not a famine of food or a thirst for water, but a famine of hearing the words of the LORD. Men will stagger from sea to sea and wander from north to east, searching for the word of the LORD, but they will not find it.” (Amos 8:11–12, NIV 1984).

My Musings – Imagine how dreadful this would be. Fortunately, the Word is more accessible today, in more translations, than ever before. Unfortunately, the neglect of the Word may also be at an all time high. Thirsting and starving in the midst of plenty without even realizing it. How pitiful. I was raised in a Christian family and my earliest childhood memories include regular Sunday school and Church attendance as a family. I was taught that our Judeo-Christian values were not just a part of our Sunday routine they should be part of our character and influence all aspects of our lives. I was also taught that as important as these values were they could not save us. We must also be “born again” by accepting Christ.
