“You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.” (Matthew 5:14–17, NIV 1984). 

My Musings – Our appeal to the world is best when we are out in the world.  A light is most noticeable when it surrounded by darkness.  So our words, backed up by our deeds, need to be in stark contrast to the world around us. Not for the sake of standing out in order to bring attention to our “goodness,” but to be a reflection of why we live our life the way we do.  Why we believe what…

I was raised in a Christian family and my earliest childhood memories include regular Sunday school and Church attendance as a family. I was taught that our Judeo-Christian values were not just a part of our Sunday routine they should be part of our character and influence all aspects of our lives. I was also taught that as important as these values were they could not save us. We must also be “born again” by accepting Christ.
