I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile. For in the gospel a righteousness from God is revealed, a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: “The righteous will live by faith.” (Romans 1:16–17, NIV 1984).
For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures. (1 Corinthians 15:3–4, NIV 1984).
My Musings – It should come as no surprise that in these last days Satan is doing everything in his power to dilute, distort, disparage and discredit the Gospel. “Because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes.” So, he’ll do what he can to make it unbelievable. “He is filled with fury, because he knows that his time is short.” (Revelation 12:12, NIV 1984). He knows he cannot win, so he wages a war of scorched earth. Taking as many with him as he can.
My Advice – There are a great many “good” causes that can distract us from what is “of first importance.” Side skirmishes on disputable matters that divert us from the real battle. Draining the real power that we have at our disposal. “It’s the Gospel, “according to the Scriptures.“
