Not Man Made

“Am I now trying to win the approval of men, or of God? Or am I trying to please men? If I were still trying to please men, I would not be a servant of Christ. (Galatians 1:10, NIV 1984).

My Musings – I’m probably sounding like a broken record (my older readers will understand the reference) of late. But this is a message that needs to be repeated. There are plenty of “gospels” out there whose aim is to please men. Paul’s makes it very clear (read the surrounding context) that these are no gospel at all. The Gospel is not about pleasing man, it’s about appeasing God, to satisfy the full requirements of the law. Something that is not possible by any other means than by the true (not perverted) Gospel of Christ’s atoning sacrifice for our sins. It’s not about picking your path to God, it’s about following the only path to God. The path provided by God Himself.

My Advice“I want you to know, brothers, that the gospel I [Paul] preached is not something that man made up.” (Galatians 1:11, NIV 1984).Be a servant of Christ.” Don’t follow a gospel that man made up. Follow the Gospel that God sent down.

I was raised in a Christian family and my earliest childhood memories include regular Sunday school and Church attendance as a family. I was taught that our Judeo-Christian values were not just a part of our Sunday routine they should be part of our character and influence all aspects of our lives. I was also taught that as important as these values were they could not save us. We must also be “born again” by accepting Christ.

  1. “For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear.” 2 Timothy 4:3 I think that time is upon us! Blessings, Steve!
