The LORD had said to Abram, “Leave your country, your people and your father’s household and go to the land I will show you. I will make you into a great nation and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.” So, Abram left, as the LORD had told him. (Genesis 12:1-4, NIV 1984).
My Musings – “Go.” “I will show you” where. “So, Abram left,” not knowing where. Kind of “matter-of-fact” don’t you think? Sure, there will be blessings. But wouldn’t you want to know where you were going before you left all that you knew behind to go who knows where? Not Abram. “By faith Abraham, when called to go to a place he would later receive as his inheritance, obeyed and went, even though he did not know where he was going.” (Hebrews 11:8, NIV 1984).
My Advice – Now that’s faith. Not in the things promised. But in the One making the promise. May we have that kind of faith. If you’ve accepted Christ as your Savior, you do. You have left behind all that you knew, because of the One making the promise.
