Who Are You Going To Believe?

The LORD God formed the man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being. (Genesis 2:7, NIV 1984).

My Musings – “The Hebrew here does not say ‘a living being became man.’ Man is not formed from pre-existent life.” (The Reformation Study Bible, 2015, p.14). Just the opposite “man became a living being.” You can believe theories and textbooks devised and published by fallible man. Or you can believe the infallible One who “formed the man,” and whose “breath of life” caused “man [to become] a living being.

My Advice“Choose for yourselves this day whom you will [believe], whether the [theories proposed by infallible scientists], or the [published textbooks that propagate those theories]. But as for me and my household, we will [believe] the LORD.” (Joshua 24:15, NIV 1984). Consider this: it has often been the case that theories based upon scientific study and evidence ultimately prove to be false rather than true. That is my belief of what will happen to the scientific theories that suggest that a pre-existent “living being became man.”

I was raised in a Christian family and my earliest childhood memories include regular Sunday school and Church attendance as a family. I was taught that our Judeo-Christian values were not just a part of our Sunday routine they should be part of our character and influence all aspects of our lives. I was also taught that as important as these values were they could not save us. We must also be “born again” by accepting Christ.
