My Musings – With this verse, one of my favorite passages in the Old Testament begins. It goes on for four chapters. Well worth taking the time to read. If it does not humble you, then something is wrong. But I digress.
I’ve read this numerous times, but this time one word jumped out at me, with an insight I had not seen in other translations. The word “plans” is substituted for “counsel.” Upon further research, the word counsel is described as “a plan, as opposed to a whim or caprice.” What was happening to Job was not some cosmic wager that Satan maneuvered God into.
