Not An Accident

By the word of the Lord were the heavens made, their starry host by the breath of his mouth. He gathers the waters of the sea into jars; he puts the deep into storehouses. Let all the earth fear the Lord; let all the people of the world revere him. For he spoke, and it came to be; he commanded, and it stood firm. (Psalms 33:6–9, NIV 1984).

My Musings – “The probability of life originating from accident is comparable to the probability of the Unabridged Dictionary resulting from an explosion in a printing factory.” (Edwin Conklin). You can be sure it was no accident.

Within this vast universe, so vast that it is incomprehensible, and at this particular time, He placed us. “From one man he made every nation of men, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he determined the times set for them and the exact places where they should live. God did this so that men would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from each one of us. ‘For in him we live and move and have our being.’” (Acts 17:26–28, NIV 1984). Not an accident. He determined it. And in this vast universe, “He is not far from each of us.”

“For [He] created [our] inmost being; [He] knit [us] together in [our] mother’s womb. [We] praise [Him] because [we are] fearfully and wonderfully made. All the days ordained for [us] were written in [His] book before one of them came to be.” (Psalm 139:13–14, NIV 1984). Not an accident. “Created.” “Ordained.” “Fearfully and wonderfully.

“Written in the book of life belonging to the Lamb that was slain from the creation of the world.” (Revelation 13:8, NIV 1984). Not an accident. “Written…from the creation. “Before one of them came to be.”

My Advice – Not an accident. He planned a time and a place for us. He ordained all our days beforehand. Even though He knew we would fall. Even though He knew sacrifice that would require.” Yet so certain that “from the creation of the world” His Son was “slain” before it came to be. An accomplished future event. Would you reject such a gift after knowing all this? Make sure your name is not blotted out.

I was raised in a Christian family and my earliest childhood memories include regular Sunday school and Church attendance as a family. I was taught that our Judeo-Christian values were not just a part of our Sunday routine they should be part of our character and influence all aspects of our lives. I was also taught that as important as these values were they could not save us. We must also be “born again” by accepting Christ.
