Who has understood the mind of the Lord, or instructed him as his counselor? Whom did the Lord consult to enlighten him, and who taught him the right way? Who was it that taught him knowledge or showed him the path of understanding? Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. (Isaiah 40:13–14, 28, NIV 1984).
My Musings – Who has not heard? Who indeed? Seems like plenty of us these days think we can fathom the “mind of the Lord.” That we could teach Him a thing or two. But “can the pot say of the potter, ‘He knows nothing?'” (Isaiah 29:16NIV 1984). Often, we think we can. That we are so wise and intelligent. But “the wisdom of the wise will perish, the intelligence of the intelligent will vanish.” (Isaiah 29:14, NIV 1984).
My Advice – We cannot fathom His undertanding, so let’s stop pretending that we can.
