My Advice – This phrase has always puzzled me — “live a life worthy of the Lord.” For it was Paul who also said, “I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my sinful nature.” (Romans 7:18, NIV 1984). So how could “nothing good” live a “life worthy of the Lord?” Just as we could not obtain our salvation on our own, we cannot live a worthy life on our own.

Yes. Like a child who at first obeys their parents out of obligation and fear. As they grow, they obey out of reverence and respect.
