My Musings – Believers no longer have to ask for this. A startling statement? After Pentecost, the Holy Spirit is given to all at the moment they receive Christ. Two gifts in one. Indivisibly linked. “You, however, are controlled not by the sinful nature but by the Spirit, if the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Christ. But if Christ is in you, your body is dead because of sin, yet your spirit is alive because of righteousness. And if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit, who lives in you.” (Romans 8:9–11, NIV 1984).
My Advice – “How much more?” Rhetorical. “Immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us.” (Ephesians 3:20, NIV 1984). We have not been left as orphans (John 14:18), but as co-heirs (Romans 8:17) with Christ. We have a family name to live up to, through the power of “His Spirit, Who lives in [us].”
