In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. (Genesis 1:1, NIV 1984).
My Musings – It’s funny, the things that occupy our minds sometimes. I was thinking about the word “prehistoric.” That is the time or a period prior to recorded history. We, of course, have been programmed to think of things such as dinosaurs and cavemen. Things purportedly recorded in the fossil records, but not the history books.
If you take the Bible as the inerrant Word of God, which I do, it takes on an entirely different meaning. For if “all Scripture is God-breathed,” (2 Timothy 3:16, NIV 1984), and if “it is impossible for God to lie,” (Hebrews 6:18, NIV 1984), and if “in the beginning” means the beginning of time (as well as space/heavens and matter/earth), then the only thing that is prehistoric is the triune God (“without father or mother, without genealogy, without beginning of days or end of life,” Hebrews 7:3, NIV 1984), and anything that might have been created before Genesis 1:1 (celestial beings?).
My Advice – Take a stand. Either the Bible is the inerrant Word of God, or it is not. If it is, then the only “thing” that for sure is prior to recorded history is the triune God, “without beginning of days or end of life.“ Transcendent creator existing outside of time, space and matter, until the Son “became flesh and made his dwelling among us.” (John 1:14, NIV 1894).
If it is not, then maybe we are “false witnesses about God…we are to be pitied more than all men.” (1 Corinthians 15:19, NIV 1984). For what else might then be in error?
I think you know where I stand. Will you stand with me?

Yes I will, Steve. Blessings!
