Not a Burden

Oh, how I love your law! I meditate on it all day long. Your commands make me wiser than my enemies, for they are ever with me. I have more insight than all my teachers, for I meditate on your statutes. I have more understanding than the elders, for I obey your precepts. (Psalm 119:97–100, NIV 1984).

My Musings – The love of God’s law is driven by meditation on it. Otherwise, it might seem burdensome. And meditation, done from the heart not merely the mind, should inevitably drive obedince.

My Advice – “This is love for God: to obey his commands. And his commands are not burdensome, for everyone born of God overcomes the world.” (1 John 5:2–4, NIV 1984). Love God, love His law, obey His law. Then watch the “burden or [your] soul roll away.””

I was raised in a Christian family and my earliest childhood memories include regular Sunday school and Church attendance as a family. I was taught that our Judeo-Christian values were not just a part of our Sunday routine they should be part of our character and influence all aspects of our lives. I was also taught that as important as these values were they could not save us. We must also be “born again” by accepting Christ.
