All The More

“And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.”  (Hebrews 10:24–25, NIV 1984).

My Musings“As you see the Day approaching.”  The “Day” (note the word is capitalized, refers to the second coming of Christ).  Technically, it has always been “approaching,” but with each passing day the “birth pains” seem to be getting closer together and more intense.  But whether the “Day” is near or far, we should not give up meeting together.  Certainly a challenge with the current pandemic, but not an excuse.  The time will come when the challenge will be much more of a challenge, perhaps even life threatening as persecution supplants Covid-19.  If we give up meeting (and that includes virtual gatherings) together now, what will the future hold for the Church?

My Advice – If you still have concerns about meeting in-person, that’s okay, but don’t give up the virtual.  Join a small group (in-person or virtual).  You need to be in at least one.  Ask someone to mentor you, or look for someone to mentor.  We need to continue to “spur one another on,” now and “all the more as you see the Day approaching.
