Like A Burning Fire

Jeremiah 20:9 – But if I say, “I will not mention Him or speak any more in His name,” His Word is in my heart like a burning fire. Shut up in my bones. I am weary of holding it in; indeed I cannot. (NIV 1978)

My Musings – We are moved by many things in life, but our primary inspiration should be the Word of God and His will for our lives and mankind. What a pity that we do not get as worked up about the things of God as we do some things of this world.

My Advice – You can use this as a barometer of your spiritual condition. If you are not on occasion moved and inspired by His Word, it is a good time to evaluate your relationship and ask God to “restore the joy of His salvation” in your life.

I was raised in a Christian family and my earliest childhood memories include regular Sunday school and Church attendance as a family. I was taught that our Judeo-Christian values were not just a part of our Sunday routine they should be part of our character and influence all aspects of our lives. I was also taught that as important as these values were they could not save us. We must also be “born again” by accepting Christ.
