Rid yourselves of all malice and all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and slander of every kind. Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation, now that you have tasted that the Lord is good. (1 Peter 2:1–3, NIV 1984).
My Musings – There are those who are satisfied with just a “taste” of Christianity. Just enough to appear and feel pious and righteous, but not so much that it is inconvenient, uncomfortable or otherwise interferes with the rest of their life. This is so backwards. Instead, we should be concerned if the rest of our life is interfering with or obstructing our walk with Christ. There is so much to the “abundant life” that we should be craving more.
My Advice – As a pastor friend of mine has related, missing out on what God has to offer because of what else is going on in our life is like missing out on a trip to Disneyworld because we’re having so much fun playing on the swing set in our back yard. You just accepted Christ as your personal, Savior. What are you going to do now? I’m going to Disneyworld!
