Everything New Again

“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.  God saw all that He had made, and it was very good.”  (Genesis 1:1, 31).

My Musings – All that He made was very good.  Then “the LORD God took the man [and the woman] and put [them] in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it.”  (Genesis 2:15, NIV 1984).  That was then.

So, what happened?  We did.  Just one rule to obey.  They blew it then, and we’ve been blowing it ever since.  And look what has become of mankind and the paradise created for them.  Certainly not “very good.” That is now.

My Advice“Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, ‘Now the dwelling of God is with men, and he will live with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.’ He who was seated on the throne said, ‘I am making everything new!’ ” (Revelation 21:1–5, NIV 1984). That is what can be. For you and for me.

But your name must be on the invite list. If anyone’s name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.” (Revelation 20:15, NIV 1984).   This does not have to be.

See my musings on “The Born Again Experience” to find out how to get on the list.

I was raised in a Christian family and my earliest childhood memories include regular Sunday school and Church attendance as a family. I was taught that our Judeo-Christian values were not just a part of our Sunday routine they should be part of our character and influence all aspects of our lives. I was also taught that as important as these values were they could not save us. We must also be “born again” by accepting Christ.
