“Who is this that darkens my counsel with words without knowledge? Brace yourself like [an adult]; I will question you, and you shall answer me.” (Job 38:2–3, NIV 1984).

My Musings – “I will question you, and you shall answer me.”What a novel concept, especially in American political debates. But I digress. Evading the question, changing the subject, shifting the blame or making excuses, was one of the earliest manifestations of mankind’s sin nature, ever since the fall. The earliest was hiding (“Adam where are you?”).

Have you eaten from the tree that I commanded you not to eat from?” (Genesis 3:11, NIV 1984). A simple yes would have been the correct response. But…

I was raised in a Christian family and my earliest childhood memories include regular Sunday school and Church attendance as a family. I was taught that our Judeo-Christian values were not just a part of our Sunday routine they should be part of our character and influence all aspects of our lives. I was also taught that as important as these values were they could not save us. We must also be “born again” by accepting Christ.
