Deal, Or No Deal

We must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive what is due him for the things done while in the body. (2 Corinthians 5:10, NIV 1984).

My Musings – What is due are debts (sinful “things done“) that have not been paid for. Christ paid for them on the cross and God stands ready to discharge (release from obligation) the debt. All one has to do is accept the gift (a thing given willingly to someone without a payment in return). This is done by believing and receiving. “Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God.” (John 1:12, NIV 1984).

My Advice – This is what is known in the vernacular as a “no brainer.” There is no fine print. Not void if prohibited by law, rather it is valid because it fulfills the law. Take the deal. There is none better. In fact, there is no other deal that is sufficient to satisfy the debt. So, you don’t want to stand before that seat without it.

I was raised in a Christian family and my earliest childhood memories include regular Sunday school and Church attendance as a family. I was taught that our Judeo-Christian values were not just a part of our Sunday routine they should be part of our character and influence all aspects of our lives. I was also taught that as important as these values were they could not save us. We must also be “born again” by accepting Christ.
