Less Is More

The Brew Is A Musing

“He must become greater; I must become less.” (John 3:30, NIV 1984).

“And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.” (2 Corinthians 3:18, NIV 1984).

“Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.” (1 Corinthians 13:11–12, NIV 1984).

My Musings – When we look into the mirror of our souls, what do we see? Is it a poor reflection of the Lord we are supposed to be imitating? How is the transformation going? Is the reflection an ever-increasing likeness of His glory? Is He becoming greater and the old man or woman becoming less?

I was raised in a Christian family and my earliest childhood memories include regular Sunday school and Church attendance as a family. I was taught that our Judeo-Christian values were not just a part of our Sunday routine they should be part of our character and influence all aspects of our lives. I was also taught that as important as these values were they could not save us. We must also be “born again” by accepting Christ.
