Even Diamonds Lose Their Luster

“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade.”  (1 Peter 1:3–4, NIV 1984). 

My Musings – What else do you know of that can never “perish, spoil or fade?”  Even diamonds lose their luster.  Contrary to to what you may have heard, diamonds are not forever.  They are among the highest priced of precious gems, yet cannot compare in value to the gift of eternal life that is offered to us. “How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God!” (1 John 3:1. NIV 1984).  Children of the inheritance.

Can you imagine not accepting a gift of diamonds?  But there are many…

I was raised in a Christian family and my earliest childhood memories include regular Sunday school and Church attendance as a family. I was taught that our Judeo-Christian values were not just a part of our Sunday routine they should be part of our character and influence all aspects of our lives. I was also taught that as important as these values were they could not save us. We must also be “born again” by accepting Christ.
