Roots

Be careful, and watch yourselves closely so that you do not forget the things your eyes have seen or let them slip from your heart as long as you live. Teach them to your children and to their children after them. (Deuteronomy 4:9, NIV 1984).

My Musings – “In every conceivable manner, the family is link to our past, bridge to our future.” (Alex Haley, Author of “Roots”). A link to the past (our parents and grandparent) and a bridge to the future (our children and grandchildren).

My Advice – Grow the roots deep. Don’t let them slip from your heart so that they can feed and nurture not only yourself, but to those who come after you.

I was raised in a Christian family and my earliest childhood memories include regular Sunday school and Church attendance as a family. I was taught that our Judeo-Christian values were not just a part of our Sunday routine they should be part of our character and influence all aspects of our lives. I was also taught that as important as these values were they could not save us. We must also be “born again” by accepting Christ.
