An Urgency I’ve Never Heard Before

“O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those sent to you, how often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were not willing!” (Luke 13:34, NIV 1984).

My Musings – The heart of Jesus. Still longing “to gather [the] children together,” and broken-hearted because so many are not willing. The grace is freely offered, yet so many feel the cost is too high. What irony. What tragedy.

My Advice – The time is coming, when “at the name of Jesus every knee [will] bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” (Philippians 2:10–11, NIV 1984). If you were unwilling to bow and confess before then, it will be too late for the grace. The “door” will close. Only wrath will remain. Bow and confess while there is still time. “The Father’s voice is calling with an urgency I’ve never heard before ‘Won’t you come in from the darkness now before it’s time to finally close the door!'” (Don Francisco, “Adam, Where Are You?”).

I was raised in a Christian family and my earliest childhood memories include regular Sunday school and Church attendance as a family. I was taught that our Judeo-Christian values were not just a part of our Sunday routine they should be part of our character and influence all aspects of our lives. I was also taught that as important as these values were they could not save us. We must also be “born again” by accepting Christ.
