“There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven.” (Ecclesiastes 3:1, NIV 1984).
My Musings – Jesus said, “I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished.” (Matthew 5:18, NIV 1984). Otherwise, the above text would say, “there is time for everything,” instead of “there is a time for everything.” The truth is, there is not time for everything, unless you happen to have a Delorean.
“Grawlix1 it, Doc! Why did you have to tear up that letter? If only I had more time… Wait, a minute, I got all the time I want! I got a time machine! I could just go back early and warn him. All right. Let’s see, ten minutes ought to do it. Time circuits on, Flux Capacitor… fluxing, engine running, all right!” (Michael J. Fox as Marty McFly, in “Back to the Future”).
“It is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgment.” (Hebrews 9:27, ESV 2016). No more time to take care of the things you didn’t take care of when you had the time to take care of them. No DeLorean time machine can help. There was a time, but then there will be no more time. It will be too late. The only thought you might have then is, “why did [I ignore His] letter? If only I had more time…”
My Advice – “I tell you, now is the time of God’s favor, now is the day of salvation.” (2 Corinthian 6:2, NIV 1984). No matter what “season” of life you are in, your “appointed” time could be today. The time to be born again is before you die the first time. Otherwise, the judgment that comes after is the second death. Don’t you think it’s time you took care of that?
1I know you want to look it up.
