Avoid foolish controversies and genealogies and arguments and quarrels. (Titus 3:9, NIV 1984).
My Musings – “Wise men talk because they have something to say; fools, because they have to say something.” (Plato). A lot of foolish controversies and arguments these days. It’s getting harder and harder to distinguish the wise men and women with something to say from the fools who just have to say something. Sometimes what we need is someone to swat us with a newspaper and tell us to get a life. At least they’re still good for something. Mark Twain was right when he said, “never argue with [a fool] they’ll drag you down to their level and beat you through experience.”
My Advice – Be wise. We have something to say about some mighty important things. Many will disagree with us, but don’t get dragged into foolishness by arguing and quarreling. The truth stands on its own. The wise will get it. Fools (God’s word, not mine) won’t.
