The Power And Wisdom

“We preach Christ crucified: a stumbling block to [some] and foolishness to [others], but to those whom God has called…Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. For the foolishness of God is wiser than man’s wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than man’s strength.” (1 Corinthians 1:23–25, NIV 1984).

My Musings – Some stumble over the simplicity of the Gospel, others find the message absurd. But “[His] thoughts are not [our] thoughts, neither are [our] ways [His] ways.” (Isaiah 55:8, NIV 1984). The power of the Gospel (His way) was stronger than man’s way (live a good life). For the greatest strength of character could never achieve what the cross achieved. Grace seems too simple of a solution, that it is discounted by those claiming superior wisdom.

My Advice – Be wise. Simply choose grace. Be strong, by weakening your resistance to it.

I was raised in a Christian family and my earliest childhood memories include regular Sunday school and Church attendance as a family. I was taught that our Judeo-Christian values were not just a part of our Sunday routine they should be part of our character and influence all aspects of our lives. I was also taught that as important as these values were they could not save us. We must also be “born again” by accepting Christ.
