For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. For it is written: I will destroy the wisdom of the wise; the intelligence of the intelligent I will frustrate. Where is the wise man? Where is the scholar? Where is the philosopher of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world? (1 Corinthians 1:18–20, NIV 1984).
My Musings – What was true then is still true today. The truth is so simple that it appears foolish according to worldly wisdom. But “has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world?”
My Advice – “But wisdom is proved right by all her children.” (Luke 7:35, NIV 1984). And exactly who are the children of wisdom? Those who have believed the “foolish” “message of the cross.” Better is “foolish” wisdom of the cross than “wise” foolishness of the world. Be one that is proved right. Become a child of God. It’s the wise thing to do.
