I tell you, now is the time of God’s favor, now is the day of salvation. (2 Corinthians 6:2, NIV 1984). 

My Musings – The above superimposes images from John Wayne’s first (as lead actor) and last movies.  In between, he became a film legend, with a lot of good movies and a few good quotes.  Here is one. “Tomorrow is the most important thing in life. Comes into us at midnight very clean. It’s perfect when it arrives and it puts itself in our hands. It hopes we’ve learned something from yesterday.”

John Wayne was an accomplished actor but his theology was a little suspect. Tomorrow comes in neither very clean nor perfect.  We are not ready for tomorrow until we’ve learned from our yesterdays that we are in need of God’s favor.  That we must first take care of today by putting our life into His hands. I was raised in a Christian family and my earliest childhood memories include regular Sunday school and Church attendance as a family. I was taught that our Judeo-Christian values were not just a part of our Sunday routine they should be part of our character and influence all aspects of our lives. I was also taught that as important as these values were they could not save us. We must also be “born again” by accepting Christ.
