God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline. So do not be ashamed to testify about our Lord…join with me in suffering for the Gospel, by the power of God, who has saved us and called us to a holy life—not because of anything we have done but because of his own purpose and grace. (2 Timothy 1:7–9, NIV 1984).

My Musings – We need not lack courage or confidence when testifying about the hope we have in Christ Jesus. Nor do we need to be apologetic. For the power of the Holy Spirit who dwells within us is at our disposal. But at the same time we must not come off as cocky, arrogant or “in your face.” We must season our witness with love and self-discipline.

I was raised in a Christian family and my earliest childhood memories include regular Sunday school and Church attendance as a family. I was taught that our Judeo-Christian values were not just a part of our Sunday routine they should be part of our character and influence all aspects of our lives. I was also taught that as important as these values were they could not save us. We must also be “born again” by accepting Christ.
