Simon Peter asked him, “Lord, where are you going?” Jesus replied, “Where I am going, you cannot follow now, but you will follow later.” Peter asked, “Lord, why can’t I follow you now? I will lay down my life for you.” Then Jesus answered, “Will you really lay down your life for me? I tell you the truth, before the rooster crows, you will disown me three times!” (John 13:36–38, NIV 1984). 

My Musings – Would we really lay down our lives for Him?  Many in other parts of the world have done so and are continuing to do so.  It has not come to this in the United States yet, but a day is coming when many believers will face this question.  At this point, I think that many would say what Peter said, “I will lay down my life for you.”  But when “push comes to…

I was raised in a Christian family and my earliest childhood memories include regular Sunday school and Church attendance as a family. I was taught that our Judeo-Christian values were not just a part of our Sunday routine they should be part of our character and influence all aspects of our lives. I was also taught that as important as these values were they could not save us. We must also be “born again” by accepting Christ.
