“Listen to this: Jesus of Nazareth was a man accredited by God to you by miracles, wonders and signs, which God did among you through him, as you yourselves know. This man was handed over to you by God’s set purpose and foreknowledge; and you, with the help of wicked men, put him to death by nailing him to the cross. But God raised him from the dead, freeing him from the agony of death, because it was impossible for death to keep its hold on him.” (Acts 2:22–24, NIV 1984).
My Musings – “Accredited by God.” To give official authorization to or approval of. To provide with credentials, such as “miracles, wonders and signs.” “Set purpose and foreknowledge.” To put in place with careful deliberation and intention. Knowing beforehand that “wicked men [would] put him to death by nailing him to the cross.” But God “raised him from the dead…because it was impossible for death to keep its hold on him.”
My Advice – “Therefore let all Israel be assured of this: God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Christ.” (Acts 2:36, NIV 1984). Know this with certainty, we will all confess Him as Lord and Christ. In this life to great effect for the next life. After this life to no avail to change the outcome of the life ever after. “As surely as I live,” says the Lord, “every knee will bow before me; every tongue will confess to God.” (Romans 14:11, NIV 1984). Surely, without any doubt, He lives because “God raised him from the dead.” For this very reason, do it now effect, not later to no avail.
