Answering God

Can you fathom the mysteries of God? Can you probe the limits of the Almighty? They are higher than the heavens—what can you do? They are deeper than the depths of the grave—what can you know? Their measure is longer than the earth and wider than the sea. (Job 11:7–9, NIV 1984).

My Musings – Because we can neither “fathom [His] mysteries” nor “probe [HIs] limits” mankind has a tendency to confine Him to our own understanding of what we think He should be or dismiss Him as an impossibility. He will not be confined nor will He be dismissed.

My Advice “Who is this that darkens my counsel with words without knowledge? Brace yourself like a man; I will question you, and you shall answer me.” (Job 38:2–3, NIV 1984). We will either answer Him on our own with “words without knowledge” when we stand before Him in judgement, or Jesus will answer on our behalf because we know Him.

I was raised in a Christian family and my earliest childhood memories include regular Sunday school and Church attendance as a family. I was taught that our Judeo-Christian values were not just a part of our Sunday routine they should be part of our character and influence all aspects of our lives. I was also taught that as important as these values were they could not save us. We must also be “born again” by accepting Christ.
