“He saved us, not because of the righteous things we had done, but because of His mercy.” (Titus 3:5, NIV 1984).
My Musings – “Righteous things” do not save us. They cannot save us. Because no matter how many righteous things we do, they do not undo the sins that we do. We still have a sin nature. That puts man in quite a fix. But, “you see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly [unrighteous]. Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous man, though for a good man someone might possibly dare to die. But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:6–8, NIV 1984).
