As They Groaned

The Brew Is A Musing

“For the Lord had compassion on them as they groaned under those who oppressed and afflicted them.”  (Judges 2:18, NIV 1984)

My Musings – Israel had a pattern of falling into sin, which led the LORD to discipline them.  But they were still His people and He had compassion.  We are not Israel, but we are the Church, the Bride of Christ.  If we remain (return) faithful, there is every expectation that He will hear our groaning as we are oppressed and afflicted and have compassion on us.

My Advice – So where do you want to be standing when real oppression and affliction comes?  Make no mistake, it is coming.  Maybe where you are it is already here.  No matter what the world throws at us, close to the Son is the best place to be.

I was raised in a Christian family and my earliest childhood memories include regular Sunday school and Church attendance as a family. I was taught that our Judeo-Christian values were not just a part of our Sunday routine they should be part of our character and influence all aspects of our lives. I was also taught that as important as these values were they could not save us. We must also be “born again” by accepting Christ.
