Oh, that you would rend the heavens and come down, that the mountains would tremble before you! As when fire sets twigs ablaze and causes water to boil, come down to make your name known to your enemies and cause the nations to quake before you! (Isaiah 64:1, NIV 1984).
My Musings – “Oh, that [He] would?” As it was in the days of Isaiah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man? Would He? Oh, He will.
Rend the heavens? “For as lightning that comes from the east is visible even in the west, so will be the coming of the Son of Man.” (Matthew 24:26, NIV 1984).
Come down? “They will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of the sky, with power and great glory.” (Matthew 24:30, NIV 1984.).
Mountains Tremble? “The mountains will be overturned, the cliffs will crumble and every wall will fall to the ground.” (Ezekiel 38:20, NIV 1984).
Set Twigs Ablaze? “The first angel sounded his trumpet, and there came hail and fire mixed with blood, and it was hurled down upon the earth. A third of the earth was burned up, a third of the trees were burned up, and all the green grass was burned up.” (Revelation 8:7, NIV 1984).
Causes Water To Boil? “The sixth angel poured out his bowl on the great river Euphrates, and its water was dried up to prepare the way for the kings from the East.” Revelation 16:12, NIV 1984).
Make Your Name Known To Your Enemies? “He is dressed in a robe dipped in blood, and his name is the Word of God. The armies of heaven were following him, riding on white horses and dressed in fine linen, white and clean. Out of his mouth comes a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations. He will rule them with an iron scepter. He treads the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God Almighty. On his robe and on his thigh, he has this name written: King of kings and Lord of lords.” (Revelation 19:13–16, NIV 1984).
Cause The Nations To Quake? “Then the kings of the earth, the princes, the generals, the rich, the mighty, and every slave and every free man hid in caves and among the rocks of the mountains. They called to the mountains and the rocks, ‘Fall on us and hide us from the face of him who sits on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb! For the great day of their wrath has come, and who can stand?’” (Revelation 6:15–17, NIV 1984).
My Advice – “No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.” (Matthew 24:36, NIV 1984). But, we had best be ready for that day. “For then there will be great distress, unequaled from the beginning of the world until now—and never to be equaled again. If those days had not been cut short, no one would survive, but for the sake of the elect those days will be shortened.” (Matthew 24:21–22, NIV 1984). Make sure you are one of the elect.
