At the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. (Philippians 2:10–11, NIV 1984).
We will all stand before God’s judgment seat. It is written: “As surely as I live,” says the Lord, “every knee will bow before me; every tongue will confess to God.” (Romans 14:10–11, NIV 1984).
My Musings – It would be very easy to read these two verses and conclude that they said the same thing. But there is a subtle but profound difference.
Should – While in this life, a person ought to bow and confess “Jesus Christ is Lord.” It would be best if they did. But many will not do so. It is not something that is forced upon anyone. It is a matter of choice and freewill.
Will – At the judgment seat, it is inevitable that all will “confess that Jesus Christ is Lord.” It is not forced upon anyone. But when face-to-face with the Almighty in all His glory, there can be no other response.
My Advice – When face-to-face with God, do not wish that you should have before. Then, it will be too late to change the judgment.
