The word of the LORD came to me: “If at any time I announce that a nation or kingdom is to be uprooted, torn down and destroyed, and if that nation I warned repents of its evil, then I will relent and not inflict on it the disaster I had planned. And if at another time I announce that a nation or kingdom is to be built up and planted, and if it does evil in my sight and does not obey me, then I will reconsider the good I had intended to do for it.” (Jeremiah 18:5–10, NIV 1984).

My Musings – I see the United States as a nation that was “built up and planted” by God. One with a rich Christian heritage that has done much good in the world, albeit not without some blemishes. But in my lifetime it has increasingly “[done] evil in…

I was raised in a Christian family and my earliest childhood memories include regular Sunday school and Church attendance as a family. I was taught that our Judeo-Christian values were not just a part of our Sunday routine they should be part of our character and influence all aspects of our lives.
