“When [King] David had served God’s purpose in his own generation, he fell asleep; he was buried with his fathers and his body decayed. But the one whom God raised from the dead did not see decay. Therefore, my brothers, I want you to know that through Jesus the forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you. Through him everyone who believes is justified from everything you could not be justified from by the law of Moses.” (Acts 13:36–39, NIV 1984). 

My Musings – There is only one person throughout the history of the world whose “purpose” will extend into eternity.  Be it King David, or any other influential person who has come and gone, or will come and go, their purpose serves only their generation.  For sure, the impact of some of the things they accomplished may last for quite some time, but not forever.

I was raised in a Christian family and my earliest childhood memories include regular Sunday school and Church attendance as a family. I was taught that our Judeo-Christian values were not just a part of our Sunday routine they should be part of our character and influence all aspects of our lives. I was also taught that as important as these values were they could not save us. We must also be “born again” by accepting Christ.
